Search begins for the 2027 Island Games Song

The search is on for the official song of the Betri International Island Games 2027.

KVF, the Faroese Confederation of Sports (ÍSF) and the Betri International Island Games 2027 have launched a songwriting competition to find the song that will provide the soundtrack to the Games when the Faroe Islands welcome the Island Games community in July 2027.

The competition is primarily aimed at the Faroese music community, with Faroese required to be the main language of the song. The lyrics must relate to the Island Games and sport, although other themes may also be included.

A total of DKK 70,000 in prize money will be awarded, with DKK 40,000 for the winning song, DKK 20,000 for second place and DKK 10,000 for third place.

Entries will be judged on the music, lyrics and how well the song captures the spirit of the Island Games.

The deadline for entries is 1 December 2026, and the winning song will be performed publicly for the first time at the Faroese Sports Awards on 6 February 2027.

We look forward to finding the song that will help set the tone for an unforgettable week of sport, friendship and celebration in the Faroe Islands next summer.
