481 Mascot Ideas Pour In
13.05.2025
A call for fresh mascot ideas for the Betri Island Games 2027 sparked an outpouring of creativity: by the 7 May deadline, 481 designs had landed in the inbox.
“Entries have come from children, teens and adults, and the variety is amazing,” says Island Games Director Solby Christiansdóttir, who is logging every submission.
“Our jury will have its work cut out.”
That level of enthusiasm delights the organisers.
“It shows just how widely the Games resonate—and how eager people are to be part of them,” adds Anna Maria Toftegaard, member of the Organising Committee in charge of marketing and communications.
Jury on the Job
The last Faroese Island Games mascot back in 1989 was a puffin named Piddi. Now a new figure will stand for the Faroe Islands in 2027, and a dedicated jury is sorting through nearly 500 sketches and stories to find it.
All proposals are now registered, and judging is under way.
Each of the Games’ six partners—Betri, Smyril Line, SMS, Bakkafrost, MBM and Atlantic Airways—will award a DKK 2,000 gift card to the creators of the top entries.
The winning mascot design has been chosen and will be unveiled in due course.
