Menorca
Menorca is one of the Balearic Islands, located in the Mediterranean Sea, and is part of Spain. It is smaller than its neighbouring island Mallorca, from which its name is derived.
The main towns and ports are Ciutadella and Mahón (Maó). The port of Mahón is one of the largest natural harbours in the world. The island’s highest point is El Toro, standing at 358 metres above sea level.
Menorca is part of an autonomous region along with the other Balearic Islands. Both Catalan and Spanish are official languages. Locals speak Menorquí, a regional variety of Catalan, as well as Spanish.
