Cayman Islands
The Cayman Islands are a self-governing British Overseas Territory. The territory consists of three islands: Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman, located south of Cuba and northeast of Honduras, between Jamaica and Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula.
The capital is George Town, situated on Grand Cayman, which is the most populous of the three islands. Geographically, the Cayman Islands are considered part of the western Caribbean and the Greater Antilles.
The territory is a major financial centre for international companies and high-net-worth individuals, largely due to the absence of income or wealth taxes. With a GDP per capita of 109,684 US dollars, the Cayman Islands have the highest standard of living in the Caribbean – and one of the highest in the world.
Immigrants from over 140 countries and territories live in the Cayman Islands, and the official language is English.
