Bermuda
Bermuda is a British overseas territory in the North Atlantic Ocean. It is an archipelago made up of 181 islands, with a tropical climate – meaning mild winters and warm summers.
It is a self-governing parliamentary democracy, with its parliament located in the capital, Hamilton. The House of Assembly dates back to 1620 and is one of the oldest parliaments in the world. A referendum on independence was held in 1995, in which a large majority voted against becoming independent.
Banking and other financial services account for around 85% of Bermuda’s GDP, while tourism is the second largest industry at around 5%. The standard of living is high, and Bermuda has one of the highest GDPs per capita in the world.
