The 2027 Organizing Committee
There are seven members on the Faroe Islands 2027 Island Games Committee (Oyggjaleikanevndin 27), which is the organising committee responsible for planning and delivering the Games in the Faroe Islands.
Teitur Samuelsen, CEO of Eystur- og Sandoyartunlar, serves as Chair of the Committee and holds overall responsibility for finance and project management.
Annleyg Lamhauge from Visit Faroe Islands is in charge of domestic transport, accommodation, and hospitality.
Niels Mortensen, CEO of SMS, is responsible for financial and commercial matters.
Doris Bjarkhamar, advisor at the Prime Minister’s Office, oversees emergency planning and preparedness.
Elin Heðinsdóttir Joensen, President of the Faroese Confederation of Sports (ÍSF), is responsible for the opening and closing ceremonies as well as other sporting and cultural events.
Anna Maria Toftegaard handles volunteers, sustainability, communications, and social media.
John Kjær represented ÍSF at the first Island Games in the Isle of Man in 1985 and became a member of the IIGA Executive Committee that same year. He has been involved ever since and now serves as a special advisor to the 2027 Organising Committee.
In addition to the committee members, Solby Christiansdóttir, Island Games Coordinator, serves as the Committee’s Secretary.
