🗓 About the Games

Betri Island Games 2027 will be the largest single event ever held in the Faroe Islands. Athletes, coaches, volunteers, and visitors from 23 island communities around the world will come together to compete in 14 sports over six days.

This will be the second time the Island Games are hosted in the Faroe Islands – the first was in 1989.

Dates: 3–9 July 2027

Venues: Competitions will take place at 24 venues across 15 towns and villages on six islands.
Five of these six islands are connected by roads and subsea tunnels, making transport efficient and reliable.

Participants: Approx. 2,500 athletes from 24 islands

Sports: 14 disciplines

All journalists, photographers, and videographers must apply for official media accreditation to work at the Games.
