The Faroe Islands are ready and looking forward to hosting the 2027 International Island Games. This event will be the largest event ever hosted in the Faroe Islands, with an expected 2,500-3,000 visitors.

The Games Director is Solby Christiansdóttir and the Sports Director is Poula Michelsen, supported by both the Faroese Island Games Committee and the Faroese Confederation of Sports.

Member Islands

The International Island Games Association has 24 member islands. They are: Åland, Alderney, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Falkland Islands, Faroe Islands, Froya, Gibraltar, Gotland, Gozo, Greenland, Guernsey, Hitra, Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, Jersey, Menorca, Orkney, Saaremaa, Sark, Saint Helena, Shetland, Western Isles, and Ynys Môn.

Betri International Island Games XXI

The Faroe Islands 2027 Betri International Island Games will take place from July 3–9, 2027. This will be the second time the Faroe Islands host the Games. The first time was in 1989.

This week-long event will feature athletes from up to 24 island groups from across the world competing in 14 sports:

Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Cycling, Football, Gymnastics, Judo, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Triathlon, Volleyball, including Beach Volleyball.

There will be no entry charge to spectators for any of these events. 

The International Island Games Association

The right to host the International Island Games is awarded by the member countries of the IIGA (International Island Games Association) at its General Assembly. The International Island Games Association is a global membership organization that allows member islands the opportunity to host this unique multi-sport event.
